Financial Literacy Goes to the Movies!

And YOU are invited backstage!

Your young (and even some not so young) members don’t really lose sleep over their financial wellness. That’s why, instead of another financial literacy seminar, we’re inviting you to take them to the movies.

Did you see the movie? Give us feedback!

In response to the financial crisis set forth by Covid, a spunky college student starts an internet-based detective agency with help from her credit union. She solves mysteries through digital footprints, virtual interviews, a brilliant mind, and an inherited intuition she never knew she had.

SALLY FLOSS was raised by, and currently lives with, her wildly loving and warmly eccentric grandmother NAN. However, Covid hit the Floss home hard, putting a high risk and immunocompromised Nan out of work. Sally does everything she can to find a job, but the options for a student with no employment history and the inability to leave home are limited. Don’t count our girl out just yet…

An avid reader (rare these days!) with an exceptionally gifted memory, Sally grew up on the Bobbsey Twins, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, and Encyclopedia Brown books. She starts her own digital detective agency when she meets a cute college guy who has a case that needs solving. It might be tricky to do everything from her computer but Sally proves… no one can stalk people on the internet like a girl with her first crush.

The client only needs a small mystery solved but the case turns into something much bigger and more dangerous than either of them could have ever imagined…

Look out for financial literacy lessons being weaved in throughout the film that include concrete elements such as budgeting, loans, interest, and savings but also some bigger, more abstract concepts to get viewers talking and thinking. For instance, is money the root of all evil? And how far would you go to earn cash to save the ones you love?

SALLY FLOSS is a unique film in that it is already greenlit thanks to a contained story with a high-concept premise taking place with adherence to the film industry and SAG agency’s incredibly strict social distancing measures. It can be filmed without a crew through use of web cams, found footage, zoom platform, and screen grabs. Buyers are already lined up to purchase the film as streaming services are running low on content since the industry shut down in March.

Be a part of it!
