Is financial education what your members need, or is it really a matter of financial responsibility? An article I wrote for Credit Union Times (and a similar article for the CUES Teaching Smart Money Management column I write monthly) discussed the difference, and generated a lot of controversy. We all like to think that if our members only knew how to budget, use credit responsibly, and balance their checkbooks, they'd do it.

I'm arguing that they already know.

This video puts the blame game on the table, and asks members to visit your website for more information on how to handle their finances. However, the end of the video can be fully customized to include not only your credit union's logo and URL, but the message of your choice as well.
